Abu Dhabi, January 28, 2025 – The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (ADQCC) has announced that the Reference Monitoring and Analysis Department (Rasid Laboratory), part of the Central Laboratory Sector and operated in partnership with M42's Environmental Sciences Department, has achieved A2LA accreditation under the ISO/IEC 17025 Flexible Scope. This milestone solidifies Rasid's position as a global leader in multidisciplinary laboratory testing.

The accreditation marks a significant step in enhancing Rasid Laboratory's capabilities by integrating its flexible scope accreditation with unique expertise across various domains, including the detection of public health infectious pathogens, the identification of prohibited and restricted substances, and environmental risk assessments in wastewater. This integration makes Rasid the only laboratory worldwide to offer such a comprehensive and accredited testing framework under one umbrella.

ISO/IEC 17025 certification is a globally recognized benchmark of technical competence and quality management. Rasid’s ability to adapt to emerging risks and deliver innovative solutions ensures Abu Dhabi’s leadership in quality and conformity. The accreditation process involved a series of rigorous steps, including document submission, technical review by subject matter experts, and a comprehensive four-day field evaluation to verify compliance with required standards.

H.E. Engineer Abdulla Al Yazeedi, Acting Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council, stated:

This achievement strengthens Abu Dhabi's reputation as a hub for quality and conformity, showcasing its advanced technical competencies in risk assessment using cutting-edge testing technologies and artificial intelligence models.”

H.E. Engineer Abdullah Al Muaini, Executive Director of the Central Testing Laboratory Services Sector, remarked:
“The Council is proud of this prestigious achievement, which reflects the significant efforts made in providing advanced, accredited laboratory services that meet community needs and enhance public health. In partnership with M42, Rasid Laboratory delivers high-precision tests across a wide range of areas, monitoring potential risks in the Emirate and supporting health, environmental, and security systems.”
Ms. Samara Bin Salem, Director of the Monitoring and Reference Analysis Department (Rasid), highlighted:
“This achievement is a global milestone, as Rasid is the first laboratory of its kind in the world to integrate health and environmental risk tests alongside prohibited and restricted substances analysis. “Rasid is not only the first laboratory of its kind in the UAE but also in the region and globally.  It obtaining this accreditation reflects scientific and technical excellence. Rasid’s unique value lies in its ability to adapt to emerging risks and challenges, providing solutions both before and after monitoring. Using advanced robotics, high-precision testing devices, and AI-powered data analysis systems linked to Abu Dhabi's heat maps, the laboratory processes over 11 million tests annually, enabling stakeholders to implement preventive measures and mitigation plans proactively.”
Dr. Wael Elamin, Medical Director, Environmental Sciences, M42, stated:
