Abu Dhabi, 5 Feb, 2025: The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (ADQCC) held the fourth quarter meeting of the Abu Dhabi Standard Technical Committee for 2024, chaired by H.E. Engineer Badr Khamis Al Shemili, Executive Director of the Conformity and Standards Services Sector and Chairman of the Standard Technical Committee. Representatives from 25 government entities attended the meeting, aimed at enhancing quality, efficiency, performance, and compliance standards in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The committee reviewed and approved several technical standards, documents, and manuals, including the draft Abu Dhabi Occupational Terms for individuals working in the field of electricity. This document, submitted by the Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC), was prepared in collaboration with Al Ain Distribution Company and representatives from the private sector.
The draft outlines professional standards to ensure the competence of individuals working in electricity-related professions, including consulting engineers and PV system contractors. It represents a significant step in improving professional performance across the Emirate’s energy infrastructure projects.
The development of these occupational requirements stems from the urgent need to regulate electricity professions at the emirate level. By establishing clear standards and requirements, the initiative aims to ensure quality service performance, safeguard public safety, and align with best practices. These measures are expected to boost public confidence in the services provided.
H.E. Badr Khamis Al Shemili, Executive Director of the Conformity and Standards Services Sector and Chairman of the Standard Technical Committee, emphasized:
"The preparation of these professional requirements is an important step toward ensuring the efficiency of individuals in the electrical profession, enhancing professional performance in Abu Dhabi, and regulating these professions by setting clear standards. Achieving the required quality and maintaining public safety depends on collaboration between government agencies and the private sector."
