Abu Dhabi, September 14,2021: The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC) showcased its building and construction materials testing and conformity services at the 42nd edition of the Big 5 exhibition recently in September at the Dubai World Trade Center.

Eng. Abdullah Hassan Al Maaini, Executive Director of the Central Testing Laboratory of QCC said: “The Council outlined the three basic components – mobile laboratory testing services, conformity programme and laboratory services for the construction sector at the at the Council’s central laboratory. We showcased the Council’s capability in on-site building materials inspection which helps ensure safety, quality and conformity of the products to mandated specifications.”
The field service of the Council’s mobile laboratory equipped with testing devices facilitate transfer of samples to laboratories, enhance the inspection speed and thereby save time and process delays and ensuring the quality of construction projects.

He said that the mobile laboratory is a value added service the Council provides to its partners, supporting their business. The new service supports the comprehensive development of the vital sector and sustainability in line with the Vision 2030 and economic strategy of Abu Dhabi with the help of latest technology.

Conformity programmes
Eng. Al-Maaini said the Council’s conformity programmes for building and construction materials have been developed to help partners check the use and circulation of products that do not comply with approved specifications of Abu Dhabi.
This helps the Council monitor the market and reduce commercial fraud, Al-Maaini said, adding that the Council works in close cooperation with partners and through regular field inspections to ensure the quality of products sold in the market.

Construction Laboratory
Eng. Al-Maaini said the Council provides specialized services for construction and infrastructure sector through its Building and Construction Materials Laboratory, to help raise the efficiency and quality of products used in industry. 
The construction laboratory verifies the quality and materials used in the products against mandated local and international norms. This in addition to adding value to the economy of Abu Dhabi also enhances quality and safety standards in the infrastructure and construction sectors. He said the aim is also to ensure that manufacturers and suppliers comply with quality, security and safety standards.
Eng. Al-Maaini said the Council’s construction laboratory has technical competencies across its sub laboratories for soil and aggregates, concrete and cement, asphalt and bitumen, industrial materials, chemical testing, in addition to a transformer oils laboratory. It also owns two mobile laboratories to provide inspection services on project sites. The mobile laboratories cover approximately 80% of the examinations provided in the main laboratory, he said.
