Abu Dhabi, July 15, 2021: The Markets and Consumer Services Sector of the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC) held a workshop for major retail outlets in Abu Dhabi on the Council’s product safety and legal metrology services, as well as on right commercial practices to be followed, among others.

Participants at the online workshop entitled, ‘Together for Fair Markets’ included Carrefour, Lulu, retail associations and other similar major outlets in Abu Dhabi, QCC said in a statement.

“As part of achieving quality, and the Council’s vital objectives, QCC continues to provide a supportive framework for Abu Dhabi regulatory authorities as well as for the industrial sector. In this context, the workshop discussed an array of subjects, including metrological requirements and norms applicable to retail commercial scales and for pre-packaged products,” said Mr. Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Executive Director of the Markets and Consumer Services Sector.
He said the workshop was held in the light of QCC’s mandate of market control tasks, inspection and verification of legal measurement tools, all of which in turn leads to making the markets in Abu Dhabi safe and fair.
QCC’s services have ensured the accuracy of the legal measurement scales used in Abu Dhabi and protect environment as well as the health and safety of consumers, in addition to monitoring the quantity of local and imported pre-packaged products. This protects both the traders as well as consumers, enhancing confidence in the local markets supporting the emirate’s economy.
