Abu Dhabi, December 28, 2023: The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council, in cooperation with the Department of Municipalities and Transport, conducted a comprehensive study to measure the impact of implementing public spaces design guidelines on the economic, social, health, environmental, and security pillars.

The field study results confirmed the positive effectiveness of implementing the guide’s standards, contributing to facilitating processes and procedures related to infrastructure projects in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The study highlighted the public places design guide, contributing to planning and designing principles that provide vibrant and vivid public places encouraging the practice of outdoor activities.
The guide provides guidelines for planners, designers, and operators to develop public open spaces and streets that reflect the main objectives of the guide and aim to provide comfortable, safe, and attractive public spaces for everyone and provide a variety of spaces that meet various uses. In addition, the guide aims to achieve sustainability and promote health benefits by improving the health level of public places.

The study focused on an existing project in Khalifa City as a practical example, assessing residents of various parks, in addition to analyzing the designs of parks and street spaces.
The results showed significant improvements in the residents' experience and ease of access to green areas and public facilities.
ADQCC emphasized its continuous efforts to update manuals and standards aimed at ensuring the quality of life for Emiratis and residents of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi by the requirements of strategic partners.

ADQCC hopes that planners, designers, and operators will benefit from the manual to develop sustainable and healthy public places, promoting social cohesion and universal access to all segments of society.
