His Excellency said the laboratory provided services to the industrial and private sectors, and 29 per cent of these verticals benefited from the tests in 2022. He stressed that the Council was always keen to improve and upgrade the services of the laboratory to reduce time and cost, by evaluating the geographical distribution of the service provisions according to the needs of partners and customers. This in turn helps manage resources effectively in addition to expanding the scope of services.

The report said that the Central Testing Laboratory launched an electronic platform `KAFAA Efficiency System’ during the GITEX technology exhibition in Dubai last year in cooperation with the healthcare company, G42, to achieve operational excellence by increasing efficiency, improving costs and monitoring performance and other key performance indicators. This also contributed to providing a database for decision makers to access information on the services of the Central Testing Laboratory.

The KAFAA efficiency platform comes with a data dashboard on the services provided by the laboratory across categories. It also tracks the status of requests over a specific period of time, and displaying it on a monthly, weekly and daily level on its screens.

The Central Testing Laboratory represents QCC in the federal team which studies food risks in Abu Dhabi as per the directive of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment. It is also a member on the national committees headed by the National Emergency and Crisis Management Authority (NCEMA) which monitors the inventory of resources in the country, and conducts studies on addressing risks from hazardous materials from incidents and to build a national database.

The laboratory’s annual report for 2022  highlighted that  one of the most important achievements was in  supporting the local industrial sector through eight projects with local manufacturers on extending the validity periods of products, while maintaining safety and quality. Outside the UAE, the laboratory also participated in a study carried out by an American private company, XPRIZE on novel foods.

The Central Testing Laboratory participated with strategic partners, the Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC) and the Abu Dhabi Agriculture Food Safety Authority (ADFSA) in treated water project to provide comprehensive chemical and biological tests for food safety, in addition to a project for detecting pesticide residues in coffee, where the Council’s unique service listed 437 pesticides, the highest in Abu Dhabi..
