ABU DHABI, June 16, 2021: The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC) today said it has launched a conformity and certification summer campaign for lifeguards to ensure safety of beachgoers and users of swimming pools.

Engineer Badr Khamis Al Shemaili, Director of Conformity Assessment Services Department of QCC, said: “The swimming pool and beach lifeguard conformity programme will benefit more than 140 hotels in Abu Dhabi. We are now close to finalizing plans on how to work together with hospitality entities in the emirate for the lifeguard conformity scheme.”

He said that QCC’s lifeguard evaluation campaign also spans schools in the emirate which have swimming pools, ensuring that the lifeguards employed by these educational institutions meet the professional standards in terms of their capabilities, skills and knowledge.

Al Shemaili said that for entities employing lifeguards, the QCC service is advantageous since the certification endorses the skill and competence of these workers as well as their professional qualifications. The service also supports and facilitates regulatory authorities issue license to qualified lifeguards for beaches and swimming pools.

He said QCC has so far issued conformity certificates to 627 lifeguards, contributing to enhancing the pool of qualified professionals who are trained to protect and save lives at swimming pools and public beaches. These certified lifeguards are experts in rescue operations and first aid services benchmarked to the highest standards of security and safety. QCC’s lifeguard conformity schemes are in line with its keenness to continue providing services that enable regulatory authorities, and contribute to the safety of society and property, he said.
