Abu Dhabi, February 17, 2025 – The Emirates Metrology Institute, part of the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (ADQCC), is participating in the IDEX and NAVDEX 2025 International Exhibition, held at the Abu Dhabi International Exhibition Centre from February 17 to 21. This participation aligns with the Institute's efforts to highlight its vital role in strengthening and advancing the military defense industry in the United Arab Emirates.
Through its participation, the Institute aims to showcase a wide range of services, including calibration, inter-comparison programs, consulting, and training. It places particular emphasis on supporting the development of the military sector’s capabilities and enhancing its efficiency, thereby contributing to the next generation of defense industries and improving their competitiveness at both regional and international levels.
Abdulla Al Yazeedi, Acting Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council, stated, "The participation of the Emirates Metrology Institute in IDEX and NAVDEX 2025 reflects its commitment to supporting the defense industries and strengthening national security independence. Developing measurement and calibration capabilities is a crucial component in achieving excellence in this vital sector."
He also noted that the Institute’s services include the calibration of various devices, such as pressure and flow controllers, as well as thermal and electrical sensors, along with calibration for military manufacturing tools used in aviation, land, and naval units.
“The Institute aims to expand its service offerings to regional and international customers, further establishing its position as a national reference for measurement,” Al Yazeedi added.
H.E. Saeed Al Mheiri, Executive Director of the Emirates Metrology Institute and Chairmanship of the SMIIC Metrology Council, highlighted the importance of inter- laboratory comparison testing programs, stating, "These programs are among the most critical services we provide to defense industry laboratories, as they ensure the efficiency of measurement capabilities and establish the necessary infrastructure for international recognition in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025.”
He further emphasized, “We are dedicated to delivering technical solutions that support our strategic partners in the fields of measurement and calibration. Developing national expertise in laboratories is a key part of our strategy to enhance the productivity and efficiency of military units.”
The Emirates Metrology Institute represents the UAE in mutual recognition arrangements within the International Committee on Weights and Measures (CIPM-MRA) and in regional and international technical committees. As a pioneering national initiative, the Institute has played a vital role in improving various economic and strategic sectors, including the military industry, by reducing service costs and turnaround times.
Through the Institute’s efforts, the UAE continues to strengthen its production capacity and operational efficiency, supporting national industries and reinforcing its position on the global stage.
