Abu Dhabi, 1 August 2022: The Permanent Technical Committee for Abu Dhabi Technical Standards of the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC) approved the Abu Dhabi Guideline for Health Control of Buildings and Public Facilities, to help relevant authorities ensure water quality and mitigate noise pollution in buildings and public facilities in Abu Dhabi.
The guide was issued in cooperation with the Department of Municipalities and Transport. It was prepared in consultation with a technical committee that included representatives from the department, the municipalities of Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Al Dhafra, the Department of Health, the Abu Dhabi Center for Public Health, the Abu Dhabi Environment Agency, the Abu Dhabi Distribution Company, the Al Ain Distribution Company, the Abu Dhabi Center Waste Management (Tadweer), the Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company, and the Department of Energy.
Kholoud Al Marzouqi, Director of the Infrastructure Organization and Operations Department - Planning and Infrastructure Sector in the Department of Municipalities and Transport, said QCC has been playing an important role in ensuring to implement global standards across public health and the sustainability of public facilities. This in turn has been instrumental in achieving sustainable growth for the emirate and business continuity.
"The new guide constitutes an important step in unifying standards at the level of the department, and three municipalities to strategically enhance the reputation of Abu Dhabi as one of the best destinations in the world for life, work and visit,” she added.
Saif Al Bakri, Director of Specifications Services Department of QCC said: "The primary roleof the guide is in helping ensure the quality and safety of water, safety of water tanks and internal water transmission networks. The coverage also includes safety of fountains, treated irrigation systems, and Al Sabeel water cooling units. It contributes to raising standards and accelerating periodic maintenance procedures for buildings and shared facilities to ensure water quality to maintain the health and safety of users, and control of noise to ensure comfort to residents.”
The new guide seeks to ensure water quality in commercial buildings and public utilities through inspection of water tanks to check if the requirements for clean water are met as per the standards approved by the Council. It also lists norms for internal water transmission networks to ensure that healthy and clean water is supplied to workers and users as well as the safety of the Al-Sabeel water coolers.
