Abu Dhabi, July 29, 2024: Inspectors from the Market & Consumer Services Sector at the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (ADQCC) have launched an awareness and inspection campaign to verify the conformity of products traded in Abu Dhabi's markets.
The campaign focused on light bulbs and water-saving devices of all kinds to ensure that these products continue to meet the requirements and conditions for obtaining the Mark of Trust and Certificate of Conformity.
During the campaign, inspectors visited several establishments across the Emirate's markets and tested random samples in accordance with the relevant requirements and conditions. The results of the campaign confirmed that these products continue to meet the safety requirements for consumers.
H.E. Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Executive Director of the Market & Consumer Services Sector, emphasized that the sector's inspectors are the Council’s field arm, assigned to inspect and monitor products in the markets in accordance with international best practices to ensure the safety of products and their compliance with relevant standards and technical regulations.
Al Mazrouei pointed out that ADQCC ensures the conformity of products in the market through six operational activities: field inspection visits, smart inspections, conformity programs, cooperation with partners, consumer communications, corrective actions, and product recalls.
He explained that smart inspections complement field inspections to ensure that products offered for electronic sale in the Emirate comply with the relevant standards and legislation. Samples of these products are selected and sent to accredited laboratories to ensure their continued conformity.
