Abu Dhabi, 12 July 2024, During the second quarter of this year, the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (ADQCC) recorded positive performance indicators in its various operational sectors, reflecting the leadership of the regulatory systems in local markets in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The indicators confirmed the ADQCC's dedication to ensuring the safety of products and standards traded in the markets, protecting the rights of both traders and consumers, enhancing confidence in local markets, and supporting the economy of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

According to Emirates News Agency (WAM), based on official data obtained from the Council, the ADQCC's Market & Consumer Services Sector inspected more than 48,000 products to verify their compliance with specifications. This included more than 45,000 products during field inspections and nearly 3,000 products through platforms.

During the same period, the authorities also verified 7,800 legal measuring tools. The total number of verified prepackaged products reached 620, which is equivalent to 18,300 samples. They also withdrew 42 products from the market for not conforming to the required specifications and standards, including 2,216 items. Additionally, they corrected 27 products, which is equivalent to 9,024 items.
During the second quarter of 2024, the ADQCC's Central Testing Laboratory carried out 104,773 laboratory tests in its various fields of testing, including food, liquids, water, medicines, medical equipment, building and construction materials, transformer oils, environment, agriculture, and cosmetics.

The laboratory tests for water topped the list with 58,772 tests, followed by food and liquids with 30,922 tests, 7,341 tests for the environment, 4,674 tests for transformer oils, 1,899 tests for building and construction materials, and 575 general tests.

The Central Testing Laboratory also carried out 311 tests for medicines and medical equipment, 181 agricultural tests in the Emirate, 79 tests for cosmetics, and 19 technical consultations during the same period.

During the second quarter of 2024, the Emirates Metrology Institute, part of the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council, issued 125 calibration certificates, conducted 16 intercomparisons equivalent to 42 working hours, implemented a training program equivalent to 8 working hours, and issued 13 training certificates. Additionally, it provided 9 consultancy services equivalent to 83 working hours and issued 26 consultancy reports.

Regarding the indicators of the Conformity and Standards Services Sector, 869 requests for the renewal of conformity of individual services were monitored, and 309 other certificates were issued. Within the framework of the product conformity certificate, 88 certificates were renewed, 73 requests for issuing another certificate, 35 requests for product registration certificates, 20 licenses were issued using a trust mark, and 4 licenses were renewed.
