Abu Dhabi, UAE, 30 October 2019: The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council, the entity responsible for developing an infrastructure of quality in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, has announced the start of its verification campaign aimed at tyre-pressure gauge testing at tyre retail stores and filling stations of ADNOC. This is part of a campaign to ensure the accuracy of legal measurement tools in line with the council's continuous efforts to provide safe and fair markets in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The verification campaign is in accordance with mandatory requirements and legislations, in particular Regulation No. 75 of 2016 on the regulation of legal standards in the UAE, and the new Regulation No. 16 of 2018 that came into force in May 2019, which includes 11 measuring instruments, including tyre-pressure gauges.

Speaking on the announcement, Sultan Al Mehairi, Director of Business Development and Customer Happiness at QCC said: “This campaign is part of the council's ongoing role within the framework of an authorization agreement signed between the Council and the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology for the verification of tyre pressure gauges throughout the Emirate to ensure the accuracy of the devices and the safety of individuals, and to enhance the level of services in Abu Dhabi in accordance with the highest quality standards and international conformity in various sectors and domains.”

He added: “We emphasize the importance of service providers’ and shops’ cooperation with Council inspectors during the verification process and the necessity to provide them with all the information, data and samples required. Traders need to be aware of the new measurement device requirements to avoid any mistakes or irregularities, and contribute to the support of the Council in providing its services that will reflect positively on the quality of their services and enable them to compete in internal and external markets, thereby enhancing the capacity of the Emirate's economy and increasing its competitiveness.”

He went on to explain that these operations contribute to the achievement of the Council's efforts to develop a quality infrastructure in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, integrated and highly efficient at a global level, enhancing the culture of quality and consumer safety in line with the objectives set by the Abu Dhabi plan to build a globally sustainable and open competitive economy.
The second phase of the verification process runs through the fourth quarter of 2019 to test the equipment available at ADNOC's tyre shops and service stations following the first phase which began in July 2019 to check tyre pressure gauges in the market.

The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council was established in 2009 to raise the quality of the emirate’s exports and locally traded products while protecting the interests of consumers and support the UAE’s competitive economy. QCC empowers regulators to establish and implement product safety, metrology and conformity schemes. The Council also sets guidelines and benchmarks to verify that products manufactured and traded in Abu Dhabi conform to the highest quality standards.
